Asteroid 2012 LZ1 was discovered only two weeks ago, made its closest approach 10 days ago, and is really, really dark. That means it’s bigger than a simple estimate would suggest — about 1km in size. Bad news if its hits Earth, but it’s not  due back for about 41 more years.
