On September 5, 2014, a reception was held for the visiting High Commissioner of India to Canada, Admiral Nirmal Verma (shown in photo facing camera), along with Mr. Akhilesh Mishra, Consul General of India in Toronto.
The venue was the atrium of the newly renovated Physics and Astronomy building.
Many faculty, staff, and students attended from all across campus, including the Ivey School of Business, and Social Science.
Admiral Verma chatted informally with many students, before addressing the reception. He spoke of the challenges faced by India and its educated youth, and strongly invited cooperation with Canadian universities such as Western.
